And WHAMMO I'm reminded.
Here's my WHY: I'm in education to create a better world for children. It doesn't matter where my desk chair is located or the room number where I keep my purse during the day; if I'm doing something to improve the world of a child, I'm answering my WHY.
My struggle with getting teachers into each other's classrooms is that the most obvious time to do this without negatively impacting instruction time is during the observer's conference period. Our conference periods should be used for planning and meeting with members of the community. I know teachers become disheartened when we ask them to go to team planning during conference times, and I'm trying to brainstorm ways to make it feel okay to spend 5 minutes three times a week in someone else's room. How can I convince teachers that the dividends would PAY GREATLY?
If we want something to happen, we've got to schedule it. Want to make sure and be in a 4th grade class to read with them every Thursday during DEAR? Put it on your schedule.
Need to spend time in planning with teachers? Put it on your schedule.
Want to write blog posts twice a month? Put it on your schedule.
#EdCampGrow was a roaring success and I'm so glad I attended! Thanks for hosting us, BISD!
